In order to improve our services to the city, the City of Leonard has contracted with All American Dogs for our Animal Control and Code Enforcement services. The humane control and treatment of animals are regulated by state laws, as well as being the subject of some of our ordinances dedicated to promoting the benefit, health, safety, and welfare of the general public (and its pets).

City of Leonard’s Animal Control Ordinance requires that pets be vaccinated and registered, and that such vaccinations and registrations be kept current.  It also states that animals shall not be allowed to roam at large or present a nuisance to other people, passing vehicles, or other animals.

All American Dogs will pick up animals in violation of the ordinances, aggressive or roaming free.  They will also pick up animals or lost pets which are caught and held by citizens until animal control can arrive.  Their goal is to respond in thirty minutes of receiving the report, barring any emergency calls. 

Stray, Lost, and Found Animals

Pet owners will be responsible for any fees associated with the impoundment and keeping of stray animals, to be paid directly to All American Dogs before the animal can be retrieved.  

Fees: 

Impoundment Fee: $75.00 
Boarding Fee: $15.00 per day or portion thereof 
Trapping Fee: $60.00 
10-day Quarantine $300 – 400 depending on aggression 

After appropriate fees are paid, All American Dogs will return the pet to the owner, or the owner can drive to their facility to pick it up. 

Lost/found pets can still be reported to City Hall at 903-587-3334.  Found pets will be posted to All American Dogs’ Facebook page “All American Dogs Shelter in Pilot Point Texas.”  City of Leonard will attempt to contact the owners and share any pictures/posts of found pets to our Facebook page “City of Leonard”.

Animal Registration

Animal licenses may be purchased by completing an Animal Registration form with City Hall, proof of rabies vaccination must be provided at time of registration.
